Friday, February 15, 2008.

What is the minimum number of participating bowlers per company?
A company must be a minimum of one team of five bowlers.

Can teams win awards?
Yes, there are many ways to win!  Instigate an Industry Challenge (PDF 85KB), compete for Best Dressed at your event or Win a Trip for 10 to Hawaii. See Ways to Win for more details.

Is there a registration fee?
No.

How do I collect pledges?
Bowlers have the choice of collecting pledges online and/ or with a pledge book.

Is there a minimum pledge amount I must raise?
Bowlers are asked to raise a minimum of $50 in pledges.  The average pledge per bowler is $160.  Challenge yourself!  The Top 2007 Individual Pledge Collector raised over $21,000!

Where do I get a pledge book?
Once registered, a Big Brothers Company Liaison will send pledge books to your Company Captain.  Let your Company Captain know if you need more.

Do I have to collect the money from those who pledge me?
Yes.  All bowlers using a pledge book to collect pledges are asked to bring the money they have raised to their bowling event.

Can I make a donation if I am not participating?
Absolutely!  We welcome your support. Simply click here  to donate now.

How do I book my bowling event?

Incentive prizes will be distributed at bowling events.

How will I know where I stand in the ‘Win a Trip for 10 to Hawaii’ contest?
Please contact your Big Brothers Company Liaison for an update.  If you don’t know who your Company Liaison is, call 604.876.BIGS, ext. 244.

How do I collect pledges online?
You must first register as a bowler online. To do so, click the register option on the www.BIGbeachparty.com homepage and select Sign-Up Now. If you are a Company Captain, select Sign-Up a Company. If you are a bowler, select Join a Company. You’ll be asked to enter your contact information, add a photo (if you wish) and set your personal fundraising goal. You may then send emails to your friends, family and colleagues to request their support through a secure web link!

It’s easy, fast and fun! With just a few quick clicks, our website allows you to:

  • Create a personalized donation web page, including a photo and your reasons for participating in The 2008 Bowl for Big Brothers Classic.
  • Set your personal fundraising goal and track your progress to help you win a fantastic incentive prize.
  • Send personal emails to your friends, family and colleagues requesting their support.
  • Seamlessly collect online donations from your supporters. The website immediately issues a tax receipt to donors via esmail.
  • If you collect 5 or more online pledges, you will be entered in a draw to win a Nintendo Wii!

How will I receive my tax receipt?
If you’ve made your donation in a bowler’s pledge book, the bowler will provide you with a tear out tax receipt immediately.  If you make an online donation, a tax receipt will be emailed to you immediately.

How do I get a replacement tax receipt if I lose my original?
Send us an email at bfbb@bbgvf.com.  Please include your full name, amount of donation, and the name of the bowler you pledged.

How long is the tax receipt valid for?
According to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines, tax receipts can be used up to five years from the date they were issued.

What is the minimum donation eligible for a tax receipt?
$10.00

What if I cannot open the online tax receipt I was emailed?
Electronic tax receipts are sent in PDF format.  If you do not have Adobe Reader on your computer, you will not be able to open the attachment.  Download your free version of Adobe Reader
